Nik Azkia as we called her was a very promising person and cater to all our needs during out stay. She is indeed a saviour with good personality and communication skill.

Our reservations were all done by her through wats app and email, yet everyting was rathere smooth sailing till the day we arrived and check out.

However I would suggest the management engaged more staff at the reservation counter to cater for influx of guest pouring in as check in takes a while with only two minimum staff to handle.

GRAND Ballroom that caters for any function including wedding reception.

The queue starts piling up when check in guests either ask a lot of questions or the process of checking in takes a bit of time to process. 56 AWARDS PRESENTED TO LOCAL, INTERNATIONAL TOURISM PLAYERS

The Ministry of Tourism and Culture presented 56 awards out of a total of  665 local and international nominations across all 14 categories,, at the recent Malaysia Tourism Awards held at Putrajaya International Convention Centre.

The ceremony was attended by Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz

Also present were Malacca chief minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron, Sabah's Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun, Tourism Malaysia director-general Datuk Seri Mirza Mohammad Taiyab and Tourism Malaysia Board chairman Datuk Siew Ka Wei among others.

The Malaysia Tourism Awards is the highest form of recognition by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture and Tourism Malaysia for industry players whose outstanding contributions have played a significant role in the success of Malaysia’s tourism industry.

Since its inception in 1987, the Malaysia Tourism Awards has evolved many times to reflect the changing tourism landscape. Initially called the Malaysia Tourism Gold Awards, it was later renamed the Malaysia Tourism Awards in 1993 to better reflect the distinction of the awards and the corporate image of Tourism Malaysia.

In 2000, the awards evolved from a locally-focused recognition to include the contributions of the international tourism fraternity towards Malaysia’s tourism industry. Recognition was given to foreign tour operators who diligently marketed Malaysia to their respective target audience, and members of the media who promoted Malaysia through their publications.

Another improvement to the awards was the creation of a MICE category in 2004. It was a timely move as Malaysia was gaining recognition as a destination for meetings and international conventions.

Subsequently, with the growing potential of homestay programmes as an attractive tourism product, a separate category was created to acknowledge the efforts of those involved in the promotion of this niche tourism product.

This 20th edition of the Malaysia Tourism Awards brought with it yet more improvements to better reflect the global landscape of tourism today.

This edition of the awards puts forth 14 categories and 52 sub-categories for nominations.

Two new categories were introduced for this edition of the Malaysia Tourism Awards, namely, “Best Entertainment Spot” and “Best Airline” to acknowledge the private sector’s efforts in fulfilling the Tourism NKEA objectives of establishing a dedicated entertainment zone and enhancing connectivity from medium-haul markets to capitalise on the high-yield tourism market.

Off course 'Best Airlines' goes to Air Asia for both best international and local route winner respectively while Cathay Dragon won for best internationa airlines.

In addition, the “Best Travel Documentary on Malaysia” category was renamed “Best Travel Documentary and TV Commercial on Malaysia” while “Best Tourism Article” focused on articles on Malaysia in both printed and online media by local and international writers.

Nominations were open from 7 September until 15 October 2017, with nomination forms made available in both printed and digital formats, the latter downloadable from www.motac.gov.my and www.tourism.gov.my.

The forms were also obtainable from Tourism Malaysia offices and 22 Tourist Information Centres (TICs) in Malaysia.

DAY 2
1ST stop – AMAZE CREATIVE @ Desa Setapak.

Though our accommodation was at GENO Hotel situated in Subang Jaya.. our next 2nd day trip took us back to Kuala Lumpur…

It was lucky we were accompanied by police cars and outriders so no worries of traffic jam… imagine Federal Highway which is always jammed at any time of the day… but our trip down back to KL from Subang Jaya was completely non stop…

And we arrived according to the stipulated time at TAR Villa Apartments in Desa Setapak where we were met by the founder of a little ‘Home Office outlet’ on the ground floor written as Amaze Creative Sdn Bhd.

As its name speaks out… it was really amazing to see handpainted canvas shoes and bags in various patterns and signatures  inspired by cartoons and comics… and the astonishing part of it was… all of these were painted by  an underprivileged ladies/girls  that are deaf.

They were engaged by the owner of Amaze Creative Mr. Chang Wan Sang and Ms Yee SK.

With patience and care, each and everyone had their own thoughts and colours to ponder with their design and they were really beautifully painted.

In fact, customers can opt for their own design or even want to have their name written  at an affordable rate.

Yes… that’s AMAZING … don’t you think….

Though targeted for the younger generation but older customers who are young at heart could not resist buying it too as they look so cute and lively be it sneakers, flats, high and medium cut sneakers, slip-ons, peep-toes or even low platforms. And most important… they are washable.

Some of us even bought those shoes and handbags… as it was really cheap for the scrutinous work done on it. …but whats more important its exsclusive as you wont be able to get the same handpainted drawing done almost 100% on other product.

Off course laa.. ‘mana boleh sama kan...”

According to Mr Chang they are in the midst of producing new range of formal shoes for ladies, featuring pumps and heels.  The designs are more subtle and feminine. Other products offered are scarves and accessories, also hand-painted.

Adult shoes are available in sizes 35 to 40, sizes for children are 22 to 34.
Anyway… all of the products could be purchased online through their website. Do check it out HERE...

Continuation from below...

Day 1
2nd stop: BOUSTEAD CRUISE CENTRE

After a sumptuous lunch at the Agro Tek Garden Resort which was my first time there and wow I was speechless… the resort is very serene and peaceful… great for a wedding reception, family gatherings and the kind.

Well, though its quite far off town at Hulu Langat but am surprised there exists a resort that not only accommodate your stay but the food there is also mouth watering.

They served our group with seafood menu like sweet sour sauce fish, tom yam, squids, beef. Chicken  and all of it was so tasteful….

If there’s anyone who are looking for a stay in a secluded area far from the noisy town then the Agro Tek Garden Resort is recommended. The long road as you can see here is barren and untouched by many vehicles except those who chose to be here….

To know more about this lovely resort you can visit its website HERE.

After that delightful lunch we proceed to our next stop which is the Boustead Cruise Centre at Port Klang, which was formerly the Star Cruise terminal but acquired  by the Boustead Group in 2014.

Boustead Cruise Centre is the only international passenger cruise terminal in Port Klang, the largest and busiest port in Malaysia, quite close to Westport in Pulau Indah. It is also just one of the few maritime gateways into the country and welcomes international cruise liners as well as navy ships visiting..

This is also the first time Kak Fas step foot at this terminal. During our visit... we were lucky to view the Superstar Gemini  which had harboured there before sailing off to international waters.

Boustead Cruise Centre has also started a small arts and crafts gallery to introduce local arts and crafts to tourists from the cruise ships.

Among these shops are QueenL’s Crafts and also an Indian stall selling pretty handmade tassel earrings and also offering henna hand paintings. Off course, the girl were excited and couldn't resist offering their hands out...haha

As a port of call for major cruise liners and naval vessel, BCC is a one-stop terminal for visitors. The five-storey terminal is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and modern amenities for the comfort and convenience of passengers, including dedicated immigration counters and duty free outlets.

The history of BCC was originally built and owned by Genting Group more than twenty years ago and was known as Star Cruise Terminal.

Star Cruise moved to Singapore, and the terminal was sold to another company, before Boustead Group acquired the terminal in October 2014.

BCC serves 130 vessels per year and some 200,000 international passengers over the same period. A major highlight of BCC, while under the ownership of Boustead Group, was the docking of one of the world’s largest and most technologically-advanced cruise ships, MS Quantum of the Seas, owned by Royal Caribbean International. It carried 4,000 passengers.

Sitting on 70 acres of land....in the pipeline is a hotel, to be operated by a sister company under Boustead Group. This hotel caters to passengers who call at the port, before moving on to another destination.

Day 1
3rd Stop -  Artjamila

After exploring Boustead Cruise Centre… our next ‘pit stop’ was at a posh banglo belonging to a family, an architect  mum  and an engineering dad who are blessed with an autism  daughter of 15 year old.

What’s interesting is Wan Jamila Wan Shaiful Bahri is not an ordinary autistic girl but gifted with a talent that commersialised into business with its label ‘artjamila’

According to her mum, Wan Jamila started dancing at the age of 4. She dance her own interpretation of  people and draws intricate patterns as well as human expressions based on her experiences and observations.

Born on 13 June 2002, she was diagnosed an autistic at the age of 4. And it was during her ample time that she uses drawing as a way of revealing her feelings of happiness, sadness, anger and joy.

At the age of 10, her talent for drawing flourish on smartphones using her forefinger, with an application which she installed herself whilst producing thousands of digital drawings.

And at the age of 14, Jamila received coaching to improve her drawing skills using various techniques. And looking at all her works which was neatly placed in her working room was breathtaking.

During our visit it was the month of August when Malaysia will be celebrating National Day…and there she was painting a beautiful Malaysian sceneries depicting flags, people etc with careful thought on details pertaining to Merdeka.

She had infact drawn for the Crown Prince of Selangor as well as for various VIPs and also customized souvenir items like postcards, fridge magnet etc.

Kak Fas wanted to buy a piece of the fridge magnet but instead was given as a gift by her mum… thanks a lot … it’s a souvenir that will always remind me of her great talent.

If you need to know more about her then do check it out  HERE as some of her pieces that is selling for few thousand ringgit is worth the money especially artiste or those who loves paintings.

THEME : CRAFT FROM THE HEART – KEMBARA KRAF SELANGOR
TRAVEL PERIOD: 3D 2N
STAYCATION: GENO HOTEL SELANGOR.
ORGANIZED BY: GAYA TRAVEL MAGAZINE & UPEN SELANGOR (Selangor Youth Generation, Development, Sports, Cultural & Enterpreneurship Development)

It had been some time since Kak Fas  joined media and blogger friends on a tourism trip exploring Malaysia. Its not that I do not love to TRAVEL but uncertain circumstances cropped up during the stipulated time of travel so had to forgo a lot of invitation especially the ones organized by the ever popular tourism magazine, Gaya Travel (GT).

But recently, an invitation from Adela Roslan from GT with this quote “ And we became acutely aware of an unusual ability -- a divine gift, a belief --of extraordinary eye and hand coordination. It’s our belief that God gives us all gifts, special abilities that we have the privilege of developing to help us serve Him and humanity……We appreciate hands and people behind all good crafts, and you should too.……,” caught my attention.

Yes … that opened my heart to accept the invite whilst god willing the time was right and free for me to accept the 3Days 2 Nights program entitled “Kembara Kraf Selangor”.
The fact that tho had been staying in the capital city Kuala Lumpur for many years and often drove to neighboring state of Selangor, have not really travelled to some of the places that Selangor offers to tourist.

So the idea of visiting Selangor’s craft and  getting to know closer what it has to offer  was indeed something unusual to ponder with especially when its done by under privileged people.

Want to know more about what I meant?

Then follow Kak Fas below as I take you on that 3D2N ‘story telling’ trip of those ‘hands behind’ some  of Selangor’s best craft.

DAY 1:
FS DESIGN FURNITURE SDN BHD @ HULU LANGAT

This was our first stop.

The factory is situated at Lot 94, Batu 1 ½, Jalan Sungai Tekali, Sg Macau, Hulu Langat Selangor and our trip there from our pick up location at MATIC was smooth… thanks to PDRM Selangor that support the program by providing a police car and two outriders headed by Encik Latif. With them off course we felt safer haha…

Anyway, we were welcomed by the owner himself, Encik Fazli Shah Simpon who without hesitation brief us about his company.

FS DESIGN FURNITURE is a manufacturer and supplier of commercial grade furniture and initiated with the GO Green mission.

You may ask… there are so many product furniture manufacturer so what makes FS Design different from others?

“Our collections are made with eco-friendly materials to create the exclusive Green line of environmentally, friendly green furniture so we used reclaimed  wood from old doors, windows and old houses, made from sustainable, organic and recycled materials,” said Fazli.

And they only used solid timbers such as Douglas Fir, Meranti, Nyatoh mixing it with fabrics, stainless still, metal and glass.

As the saying goes, ‘Behind every successful men there is a women” and here that women is off course Fazli’s wife, Ilmi Shukri, both of whom are not an industrial art scholar but an accounting graduan.

“Though its far off but accounting helps us to monitor and manage our business,” said Ilmi with a smile.

This couple started their business in 2012 as a small enterprise operating from home with a minimal capital of RM2,000.

“Creating furniture is my passion and hobi. I love to design produk from recycled materials at the age of 25 and as time moves on I manage to develop the company as it is today,” said Fazli, a father of two male children age 6 and 2 years old.

Now, he is a proud factory owner with a paid up capital of between RM300,000 – RM400,000 with 18 staff and sales reaching RM1.5 million with net profit of about RM300,000.

After visiting his 12,000 square feet  factory, we were all taken to his showroom located further away at Taman Seri Emas, Hulu Langat for a view of his finished product while some grab home a small pot of flower during a quickie quiz session.

Kak Fas got one too after answering correnctly hihi…thank you!

Needless to say, looking at the quality of their product,  some of their clients are renowned  architects, interior decorators and contractor  such as  Armada PJ,  Zawara Coffee, Borders,  Mermaid Store KL and many more.

Being a local business entrepreneur, Fazli like many others has a vision and mission to expand.

On this note, he said:

“Our dream is to be globally known for the creation and production of Safe Furniture and commitment to provide safer environment for our future generation by designing, innovating, manufacturing and supplying safe furniture to all over the world through truly teamwork governed by a Syariah compliant entity’.

Kak Fas believe with his hard work and passion, FS Design Furniture will be successful… after all he is the man behind the craft… he knows his work and capability without solely relying on staff alone as we all know ‘staff come and go’ so never depend on others to achieve success.

A successful man should not only be a boss but also a worker in his own field. Betul tak?Want to get in touch with Fazli or know more about FS Design Furniture? Then check it out HERE...

DISCOVER A LIFESTYLE, BUSINESS CUM LEISURE STAYCATION AT HOTEL REN

Following Kak Fas 'short story' titled "Lena diulit mimpi semalam di Renaissance Hotel KL' at the 'home page' of this blog... here is a continuation of the wonderful 2Days 1 Night staycation in room 814 REN Hotel KL....and its in English ok...

Well, since this blog reaches out to an audience from another 9 international countries - US, Russia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Finland and Phillipines.. .it would be wise  to spell it out in English right... so that everyone understands and aware of this lovely Hotel Renaissance that was built way back in 1996 and now belongs to the Marriot Group.

Situated at the corner of Jalan Sultan Ismail and Jalan Ampang, over looking Hard Rock Cafe Kuala Lumpur and the Bukit Nanas monorel station, it is indeed strategically located at the Golden Triangle of KL's most iconic tourism attraction - The Petronas Twin Towers (KLCC) and the KL Tower.

REN Hotel as its popularly known now comprises of two wings - East & West Wing. Understanding the need to stay relevant in the market place, Renaissance Kuala Lumour Hotel recently unveils its first batch of completely restyled West Wing guest rooms.

At this West Wing room was where Kak Fas had the opportunity to stay for the night, experiencing its new, fresh and contemporary design. However, since had never before seen the old room so cant tell much of the difference though could imagine how it was then.

But one thing for sure, its sophiticated, tasteful and sleek interior design reflects the key personalities of a Renaissane Discoverer who celebrates all things that contribute to living lavida...

Anyway, the spacious restyled rooms on a neutral colour palette with re-engineered wood flooring fitted by  luxurious Marriot's Plush Bedding and crisp linens, a spare bed sofa and a working table by the corner is what  a savvy urban traveller would appreciate or even a writer/blogger like myself...

Ranging from 40m2 size room, its reconfigured bathroom offers guests a greater space with 4 bay bathroom fixtures as well as rain shower while you can pamper your body with 'Tokyomilk' by Margot Elana toiletries.

My Deluxe Room was breathtaking... overlooking the busiest road in town where I normally would pass many times a day either by car or by monorel.

The luxurious amenities in store includes a Samsung 48* full HD Smart TV, coffee tea making facilities, mini bar, electronic safe as well as iron and ironing board and hair dryer which is normally the first item Kak Fas would seek  in a hotel room.

But best of all, the lavishly furnished room is complement with broadband high speed internet access, three telephones with voice mail, IDD and dataports for facsimile and computer hook-up.

This is another feature that Kak Fas always want during a staycation at a hotel... as for me no travelling is complete without tagging along my  laptop haha... ..and so do my hubby...so the working table is perfect for us...

But even if you do have to leave it behind due to overweight luggage than no worries... at Renaissance there's a computer corner by the lobby where you can get connected all the time whilst Lifestyle Club room guest can always enjoy surfing while accessing all complementary food and facilities at the Club Lounge on level 24th.

Yes, those who opt for the LifeStyle Rooms on the upper floors in the East Wing is exactly what a business traveller would enjoy as they can freely conduct their work either in the contemporary design room or at the Club lounge which opens from 6 am to 12 midnight.

However, other types of rooms available are Superior, Superior Twin Tower,  Junior Suite, Renaissance Suite and Presidential Suite.

Kak Fas was not able to view all as during the staycation all rooms were  fully booked but nonetheless they are off course of international standards and luxurious,  lifting up to the Renaissance name of high quality accommodation.

Its outer surroundings and facilities with an Olympic sized swimming pool, fitness centre of 1,300m2 extensively equipped and opens 24 hours daily, plus a tennis court nearby, allows guest to unwind and cool themselves after a hard days work out.

Members can proceed to the locker rooms for a sauna or warm themselves lazily in its Jacuzzi tub.

Then, just nearby is located the Mandara Spa for an urban retreat... choosing from various treatments - massage, facial, body scrub or custom spa packages.

This specially designed two storey spa located at the East Wing next to the Fitness Centre features double  and single Deluxe Spa Suites, with an en-stsuite bath and steam shower whilst  other treatment rooms offer steam shower or shower only facilities.

Relaxing foot massage, manicure and pedicure treatments are also available in a specially designated area.

Indeed, its exotic aromas of spices and pure essential oils and sounds of soothing  balinese music will definitely lull you into a state of relaxed bliss. That was what Kak Fas experience during the Balinese Massage that was given. Thanks you Mandara Spa for the relaxation treat...

The Balinese massage  valued at RM330 (an hour 20 mins) or RM205 for 50 mins is a very relaxing massage done to renew, strenghten and heal both body and mind. This traditional therapy combines stretching, long strokes, skin rolling and palm and thumb pressure techniques to relieve tension, improve blood flow, ease stress and calm the mind.

It can also  help to improve the circulatory, lymphatic, muscular and nervous systems. For jetlag recovery you may choose the tranquility massage oil blend. Since Kak Fas am not on a jet hahah... I chose the Mandara Oil....

Here, one can choose any of its Spa Menu that offers a range of treatments incorporating the wisdom of ancient cultures with the latest Spa science from Elemis spa-therapies.

Your staycation is off course not completed without food right? Off course, food is the most important daily routine to keep you energize throughout the day.

At Renaissance, guest can choose to breakfast, lunch or dine at any of its food venue.

At TEMPTationS... a all day dining restauran by the East Wing lobby served indigenous delights, authentic Asian and international fare are served buffet style. Guest can feast their senses at the Indian,Chinese, Japanese and western fare as well as a wide Dessert selection amongst others.

Yes... the Dessert counters is very tempting much to the name of the restaurant TEMPTationS itself.... this is my favourite place where i could fill my tummy with a bit of everything hahaha.... especially the 'bubur durian' with sticky rice....yummy! Read about it HERE.

Apart from that, the award winning Dynasty Restaurant which has a selection of Pork Free section for muslim diners is another choice to ponder with... especially for Chinese cuisine prepared delicously by its handsome Executive Sous Chef,  Kok Chee Kin, whom are very friendly, having a warm smile as much as his food portrays hihi...

Kak Fas had reviewed about this... check the story on this page further below under titled Dynasty Chinese Restaurant now pork free'.

But if you are expecting friends, just meet them for discussion at the Lobby Lounge that served pastries, cakes and snack with tea or coffee throughout the day while the DeliCORNER next to TEMPTationS is known for its delicious and mouth-waterng variety of cakes, cookis, sandwiches, pastries and chocalates.

Above all... for conferences, seminar, weddings and dinner functions, Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel houses a magnificient 40,000 square feet, pillarless Grand Ballroom that can accommodate up to 2,000 persons for a cocktail reception while 800 persons for an elegant sit-down banquet plus 28 mult purpose function rooms equipped with the latest state-of-the-art facilities and audio/visual equipment.

Thus, it is no doubt that this 910 rooms hotel  was recently classified as one of the few Green Hotels in Malaysia by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia for its effort s in going beyong conventional practices and embark on green and environmental friendly measures to support responsible tourism. It is in line with Marriot International's Spirit-To-Serve Our Environment  initiatives.

Wouldn't you be proud to know that 'sleeping' here means like sharing the same accommodation with many Heads of States and Royal dignitaries including famous international stars like Dato Shah Rukh Khan for instance...and to date Renaissance KL still remain a regular address for those distinguished and honorable guest from around the globe.

Thumbs up for myself hahaha.. sharing the same vicinity with royalties, celebs and renowned personalities.

Would I be able to experience a night at the Presidential suite may be hahaha....that would be a dream come true!

Thank you Renaissance KL for this kind hospitality.... but before I bid farewell lets hear what the Hotel General Manager, Mr Robert Frager had to say about its renovation:

"The renovation which is the Hotel's largest to date, will take place i three phases with the third phase scheduled to be ready in the third quarter of this year. The hotel has undergone significant refurbishments in the past, however, we have to keep our product current, appealing and fresh to ensure we retain our competitive edge. We certaily are excited and so are our guest to witness the unveiling of a stunning transformation."

Indeed... Kak Fas am looking forward to the launch of that new transformation after completion...

"Terima kasih daun keladi".... what it means... google the translation ya haha....or ask Aizan Hamid..... 😊

EARLY BIRDS GET DISCOUNT FOR RAMADAN BUFET @ CHAKRI PALACE

Ramadan is back. Its just around the corner.

On that note, most food outlets be it in hotels, malls or even privately owned restaurants especially in the busiest town of Kuala Lumpur is at the moment  preparing ‘Ramadan Food Reviews’ for promotion to media and bloggers.

Promotions is a must as you know with lots of venues to choose from for the Buka Puasa treat… it is important and necessary to read reviews of what’s for offerings but off course at an affordable price.

But best of all… if your intention is to bring the family out for breaking fast then it’s  wise to seek for the ‘early bird offer’ so that you save more.

Yes it pays to plan and book early for great sumptuous savings.

Revently, Kak Fas was invited to be part of the media and blogger group to indulge at the Ramadan Bufet Food Review organized by The Imperial Chakri Palace – Royal Thai Cuisine, located at topmost 4th floor of the Suria KLCC Shopping Centre .

Sawad Dee Kap!

Here, the early bird offer is impressive  as if you purchase before 30th May201, you would only have to pay  RM75.90++ Per Adult (KLCC) from its normal price of RM91.90 (RM47.90 for senior citizen and children). However, minimum order should be 4 person and offer is applicable for a period between 10th April 2017 – 30th May 2017 only. For Group Bookings when you buy for 5 you will get 1 Free.

That’s a great deal right? But if you wish to break fast at Imperial Chakri Palace at its branch in Pavilion nearby, the price is RM65.90++ per Adult, from the normal rate of RM79.90 (RM39.90 for senior citizen and children). However, children under 6 dine for Free.

Actually to be frank, this is the first time Kak Fas experience eating out at Imperial Chakri Palace KLCC. By its name, Kak Fas though it was an Indian restaurant but found out that it’s an Authentic Thai Cuisine one established in 1999. The interior is spacious and while eating you could view the landscape of KL city outside through its glass window panelling.

Wow! That;s a long time…. How come am never tempted to step in here?

Well… maybe one of the reason is the fact that Kak Fas am not a great eater and seldom eat outside as hubby likes home cooking. Its only once in a while we scout for a restaurant to celebrate special occasion like birthday’s or wedding anniversaries the like.

Anyway, that does not mean Kak Fas totally ignored any invites for Food Reviews. Have attended a few and once satisfied will revisit with families.

Okey… having eaten at Imperial Chakri Paace… the first dish that Kak Fas would want to taste first before others when savouring Thai food is off course Tom Yam and that sticky Thai manggo rice.

But off course…before settling down for the meal must wander around first to view the interior and to take pictures of food stations and display area. And below is what Kak Fas took… view to see for yourself how attractive and mouth watering it looks.

Was told that all dishes are cooked  with low cholesterol oil and have no added MSG, additives or preservations.

That’s  one thumbs up for serving only healthy cooked food.
After finishing off with photography… it’s time to taste…

At the main station there are spread of Thai cuisine selections such as lamb in Thai green curry, prawn with butter sauce topped with salted egg, stir fried squid with salted egg,  beef with black pepper sauce and fish with sweet & spicy sauce.

And to honour for Ramadan buffet, dishes also a variety of Malaysian favourites, including Rendang Daging Tok ,Masak Lemak Gulai Daging, Ayam Kapitan and Nasi Beriani.

MY Choice.....
After picking up a little bit of everything along the counter, Kak Fas head straight to my favourite section which is the Dessert counter.

My first choice would off course to grab the Thai Manggo sticky rice but alas… it’s gone in a minute.

OMG! Will there be another servings?

And was told there would be another… off course right… as there are still many guest who have not got their share huhu….

Since, didn’t want to miss that second servings… Kak Fas waited while picking up other sweet tooth delights such as the Ubi Kayu Stim.  Other delights includes the famous Thai desserts such as Red Ruby Waterchestnut together with local favorites such as kuih-muih melayu, bubur jagung, steam banana and many other delicacies which off cours includes 'dates'.

Knowing that mango rice is sought for by everyone Kak Fas made a point to just wait by the counter.

However,  after few minutes of waiting… the Thai Mango Sticky Rice doesn’t seem to appear but later thanks to one of the restaurant staff who may have seen my disappointment haha…. Was willing to send a plate of it to my table.

Wow! That was nice and thoughtful of him…… thanks a lot. The staff here are all so friendly indeed. Another thumbs up for the hospitality.

While at the Dessert Counter,  Kak Fas remembered seeing a dish of  Daun Kadok nicely arranged in a circle and looks tempting.  Don’t be mistaken… though its shape resembles Betel Leaf or Daun Sireh… it is not that. It is Daun Kadok, the Malays called it and normally eaten as ‘ulam’ with ‘sambal’.

But here the Thai named it as  Mieng Kam – a tradisional snack. The way it is eatened is by placing some of the seven side ingredients on it, drizzle with its sauce, wrapped it up altogether and swallow all….

My first try leads me to another second serving… which means ‘I love it’ especially the flavour of  its sauce that tasted sweet sour, is delicous… ‘memang sedap…’ its worth the effort of trying it though it’s my  first experience eating Mieng Kam.

Other Thai desserts that you could choose from this counter, beside it also lays the appetizers with choices of  local ulam-ulam and Kerabu, such as Thai Mango Salad, Thai Papaya salad, Samosa, Crispy Thai Spring Rolls, Thai Crispy Fried Noodles and many more. However, am half fulled to grab those but it looks tempting.

Next that is recommended would be the Tom Yam seafood soup situated at the live station.
Tom Yam had always been my favourite order when entering a Thai food restaurant.

Here at Imperial Chakri Palace, their Tom Yam seafood of prawns, squids, fishball or filament sticks could be taken either with yellow mee, kuey teow or vermicelli with either the clear tom yam soup or the Red and slightly spicy one.

Though it looks slightly pale liquid  but the taste is not bad.

Altogether, there are 6 sections of buffet area prepared for this “Tantalizing Tastes of Thailand” restaurant – appetizers, salad, main course, live station, dessert and drinks.
At the live station, you could also try its  Chicken and Beef Satay, Ikan Bakar that will definitely leave you craving for more once you eat the fried fish dipped with soya sauce etc.

In short, there are more than 50 authentic Thai and local favorites prepared by its dedicated team of Thai Chefs.

The Imperial Chakri Palace KLCC & Chakri Palace Pavilion “Tantalizing Tastes of Thailand” buffet dinner will be available daily from 30th May 2017. The buffet items are rotated from three different menus specially prepared for the month of Ramadan and is open from 7.00 p.m. onwards.

For  enquiries and reservation, do call 03 23827788 (KLCC) 03 21431141(Pavilion) or 016 2277182 or email marketing@chakri.com.my or visit them online at http://berbuka.chakri.com.my

THERE'S  a compartment room for smaller group functions.

EXPERIENCE WESTERN FINE DINING IN STLE AT L'HERITAGE STEAK HOUSE

It was formally a French cuisine  restaurant… but after transformation the L’Heritage Steak House at Royal Chulan Kuala Lumpur opens its door to an authentic western fine dining haven.

And after over a month operation, Kak Fas was one of  few bloggers and media invited to experience some of its signature menu offered by Executive Sous Chef Sabri Soid.

Stepping inside L’Heritage Steakhouse located on the first floor of Royal Chulan Hotel… the first impression that caught everyone's  attention was its classy and elegant design of British style setting.  Using white as its main colour, the settee, table setting and decoration within speaks for itself.

It is indeed a place for fine dining in an exsclusive surroundings… suitable for romantic situation or family dinner… far from the noise of a crowded restaurant.
If a cosy, romantic and fine dining is what you are looking for then L’Heritage Steakhouse is recommendable.

Not only is the environment  condusive and warmth at heart but the selection of food is another complement.

Looking at its menu, guest can choose to have  the finest choice of meats,  chicken, lamb, pan friend fish and desserts.

As special guest,  our menu off course consisted of its signature Wagyu Beef served with a mouth-watering house sauce. That was the main course. All main dishes will be complemented by an innovative selection of side dishes, in addition to the classic fries and mashed potatoes.

Others along the list were our Appetizers containing of a platter of Caprese Roma of Tomato, Egg Plant Calamari and Smoked Salmon  Roulade; French Onion Soup and Dessert of Apple Pie,  Chocalate Cake with  Strawberry Cheese Cake.

Okey… before Kak Fas goes on futher… to tell you the truth… am not really adventurous when it comes to food tasting which is beyond my malay taste palatte.

Although Western food is nothing unusual compared to others such as Korean, Japanese, Vietnames or even Indonesian food sometimes… its not acceptable to my throat..

Not all Western food that I could swallow. Aside beef steak and the like… some may not be suitable for my little tummy.

But alas… all the food served at L’Heritage Steak House do meet my malay palatte taste buds lol….

The platter of appetizers look unfamiliar when it was place in front of me…. There were three different servings on a plate which is made especially for us to taste all.

On it was the Caprese Roma of Tomato which comprises of Buffalo Mozzarella. Fresh basil drizzle with Virgin Olive oil and Balsamic Vinegar. Beside it lay the Egg Plant Calamari with fresh tomato, basil, garlic confit and red chilli mango salsa while third in a row is the Smoked Salman Roulade with grill scallop, toasted mesclum and Dill Crème Fraiche.

Mind you… the name of those ingredients doesn’t ring a bell hahah… how does all this tasted?

My thoughts wandered and eyes looking right and left to the reactions of friends who had already gulp in theirs.

Slowly… my fork played around those cute looking appetizers until finally took  a small scoop of it into the mouth….

Emmm…not bad..most importantly my tongue could accept it… wow… that;s a challenge haha… then there was no more hesitation to try the other two and when it comes to salmon… Kak Fas would normally leave it behind because do not actually like Salmon.

But hey… this Smoked Salmon Roulade taste good and fresh. Yeah…I could finish up all…
Feeling satisfied with my own ‘challenge’… the next menu surely would not be a problem especially the French Onion Soup that was brought in next.

According to Sous Chef Sabri… the French Onion Soup is one of the signature menu of the previous French cuisine that is still being maintained at L’Heritage Steak House.
“Guest love this soup… so we maintained it in the menu,” said Chef Sabri.

True indeed, the soup was delicious and the puff pastry covering it, served in a cup was awesome. This was my favourite. As you scoop into the pastry the onion soup airs out its hot vapour. Seeping soup while its hot is truly satisfying. Imagine if its cold… then off course it defeats the purpose.
Kak Fas love having soup with bread and butter… Yes you can choose any type of bread that’s placed in a basket on the table.

With tummy half full comes the Main Course -  Wagyu Beef. Another signature dish of this newly renovated restaurant.

Normally, when Kak Fas ordered any kind of beef steak, I normally want it ‘well done’… don’t like seeing  the meat red and raw.

Though no one came to ask how well done they wanted the beef… Kak Fas was worried about the texture.

When the Wagyu Beef came, it was a grilled Wagyu beef tenderloin served with truffle potatoes and butter poached vegetables.

Looking at the texture… it looks slightly pinkish but it was ‘well done’ and needed little force in cutting through. Looks juicy and fresh, the  flavour of the tender meat blends well with its sauce.

However, when eating steak… Kak Fas could not go without chilli sauce…huh! So… decided to ask for a bit of chilli sauce.

And with that my  Wagyu Beef tasted more exciting with that tinge of spicy red sauce. Light yet flavour packed plus giving the dish a more colourful look haha….

To end the course, don’t move without having dessert.

When it comes to dessert, its my favourite course….. love them.

Alike the appetizers, our desserts also came in the form of a platter containing a miniature of apple pie, rich chocolate cake and strawberry cheese cake prepared by pastry Chef Firdaus.

The dressing was awesome and pretty cute especially the chocolate cake that is decorated with a chocolate ring… fit for those who wants to woo their bride.

As mentoned earlier, the evironement of this restaurant and its setting is an excellent and  suitable venue for fine dining  whilst the music of Kenny G and the like adds to a romantic atmosphere  building up a close relationship.

All you need to do is make reservations and  let them know of your request be it candle light dinner for two or events of exquisite occasions.

The only way to know if is to find out and experience it for yourself first. Best of all the food is sumptuous.

The restaurant is open daily from 12 pm to 2.30 pm and from 6 pm until 10.30 pm. And for more information or reservation, do call 03-2688 9688/9645 or email your enquiries to info@theroyalchulan.com.my or log on  to www.theroyalchulan.com.

DYNASTY CHINESE RESTAURANT NOW PORK FREE

#Food Review

Place: Dynasty - Chinese Restaurant, Renaissance Hotel KL.
Chinese cuisine prepared by Exec Sous Chef Kok Chee Kin

Since childhood… though was brought up in three different countries – Malaysia – India – United Kingdom - my taste  buds had always been a malay palatte.

Maybe because during those years.. my late mum always cooked at home and seldom did we eat outside after all we were living in other people’s country so home food is off course the BEST!

As years passed by… it has always been home cooked Malay food most of the time. Even if holidaying… the first search is finding a Malaysian Restaurant… otherwise an Indian Restaurant would suffice.

No wonder until now… most of my blogger friends commented,”Kak Fas ini tak adventurous bab makan” (Kak Fas is not adventurous when it comes to food)..

True indeed… other than the normal Malaysian cuisine… foods that are not accustomed to my tongue would be the last I would pick on…. Too bad but that’s me and that is also the reason why most of the dietery products that I got as ‘doorgifts’ are given to friends or those who need it. My throat just couldn’t accept swallowing it huhu

Anyway… recently when received an invitation for a food review at Dynasty Chinese Restaurant from Renaissance Hotel KL.. Kak Fas had to think twice whether to accept or not.

The decision to rsvp came on the thought that it has been quite a while since met the management team of Renaissance Hotel especially Aizan Hamid, Mei Lan or even Joyce who emailed the invite.

But the most important factor that made Kak Fas anxious was the fact that this food review is kinda different because being a Chinese Restaurant… the Dynasty has converted one of its kitchen into a pork free zone.

According to Aizan… the kitchen was thoroughly washed in accordance to Islamic needs or in plain Malay language we call it “Samak”.  This ritual was done by a group of religious staff from Jabatan Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (JAIWP).

So that was something new to explore though the menu was all prepared by the handsome award winning  Executive Sous Chef Kok Chee Kin, whom when met expressed his desire to employ a Malay Chef to assist him in the kitchen.

"If you happen to know a Malay Chef.. do let me know," Chef Kin said smiling.

Chef Kin prepared about 9 dishes from 8 kategories – Appetizer, Barbecued Dishes,  Seafood Fvourites, Poultry, Beef, Venison & Lamb, Claypot and Dessert which includes fried and steamed dim sum.

Honestly, am not ashamed to say that Kak Fas had never ever tasted ‘Dimsum” before.  And now 3 Fried Dimsum and 3 steamed Dim Sum is served right infront.

Should I taste or not? That’s the first question that bothered my mind…
.
But it looks good… soft, white, fluffy and crispy.

But being at a table exclusively with four other bloggers, it was mind blowing not to experience what’s in front of the table right?…

So….I  try  lah… hahah…

Slowly Kak Fas took the first steamed Dim Sum  namely the  Green Dragon Chive Dumpling that shapes like a curry puff but is white and transparent filled with shrimps and chives.

Emm… not bad… surprised myself too as I could finally ate Dimsum… wow! Made history lol!

Anyway, there were 3 Fried Dimsum – Crispy Prawn Toast with Sesame; Crispy Chive Biscuit filled with Shrimp and Pan seared Shanghai Dumpling – while another two under the Steamed Dimsum menu was the Minced Chicken Dumplings topped with Dried Scallop and Prawn Wonton with Chilli Vinaigreet which is slightly spicy by the name of it.

Tried the Prawn Wonton with Chilli Vinaigreet and the Crispy Prawn Toast with Sesame as well. Since its fried so it was nothing out of the norm… its just like eating  fried ‘cucur’.

However, being a slow eater, I was not able to grab a little bit of everything as other dishes came rapidly…. So had to forgo tasting others… otherwise I would have been left out with an empty plate hahaha….

Next came the Appetizer – Deep Fried Oyster. This dish really caught my attention as its garnishing was so colourful and superb. Didn’t feel like messing it up when it looks so beautifully decorated. (Bila tengok… sayang nak makan) … had to say that in Malay haha….

Anyway.. what’s good must be tasted especially when its deep fried oyster cause Kak Fas loved oyster. Well deserved for the price of RM45… the taste was great.. crispy and fresh off course.

In less than few minutes two plates of this Deep Fried Oyster were gone…stored safely in out little tummy… and after that came the Barbecued Dishes of Barbecued chicken with glazed honey sauce, a dish that is normally liken by guest in a Chinese Restaurant.

Why do I think so?

Its because Chinese normaly loves dishes with honey. Its sweet unlike Malays who loves spicy food. This juicy dish can be ordered for RM40 and do not fret the chicken is off course slaughtered ‘halal’.

To this Kak Fas preferred the Baked Cod Portuguese Style with 'petai' that was served and brought in simultaneously. Actually it has been a while since I had Cod --- a fish that my mum normally buys for to fry  fish and chips when we were in London.

But here, this is the first time Kak Fas would taste Baked Cod Portuguese Style. Ok… not bad… Portuguese style is not new as its one of the favourite dish served while in Melaka.

The difference is its baked with Cod…that’s new…

Almost half fulled… the Aromatic Duck Breast with Tea Leaf under the Poultry category came in just at the time when Kak Fas need a break.

I DO NOT eat DUCK!

Have never tasted it before…. So should I try?

The thin slices of duck  looks exciting with slices of  Granny Smith green apples surrounding it.

Kak Fas just stared at it for a while before deciding to pick up a slice and pinch out a little bit off. Its already in front of me so why not give it a go right?

With the tip of my tongue  I slowly munch it and gulp!

No way….. I just couldn’t take it any more…. Had to take it off from the mouth.. sorry….

So DUCK is indeed totally off my Menu forever huhu…. Save RM88 out of the pocket for that menu if I had to pay for it hahaha….

To queanch off the taste drinking the chinese tea helped but then Kak Fas had  to quickly picked up the next menu which is the Wok Fried Beef, Shimeji Mushroom and Whole Garlic in Black Pepper Sauce so as to ‘wash away’ the remain taste of that ‘duck’ still bothering my taste buds.

Categorized under the Beef, Venison & Lamb in the Ala Carte Menu, this  fried beef complimented well with the Chinese fried rice served.

Few minutes later…. Something ‘bubbling’ caught everyone’s attention….

Yes! It’s the Poached Fish Fillet with Ginger Soup and Chilli in  Claypot. For a price of RM68, the smell and strong taste of ginger is actually perfect for those mothers in confinement.

Am not too keen actually for any ginger type of dish but this one though its taste of ginger is strong, it was acceptable  for me and kinda like it as maybe the fish fillet tasted fresh.

Last but not least in the Dynasty menu is off course the Dessert. Here, we were given Sweetened Mango Puree with Sago and Pomelo… emm lovely and indeed the ‘finale’ kept me.... stomach full but still can stand and walk for a photo shoot with the smart looking Chef Kin haha…

So with the separate pork free kitchen… now Muslims can enjoy savouring their favourite Cantonese cuisine at the Chinese Dynasty Restaurant without fear of utensils ‘unclean’ and the like.

All you need to do is just call for reservation and the rest …. Uh lala… eat to your hearts desire.

For further info and enquiries, just email to rhi.klurn.fb@renaissance hotel.com or look up its facebook at www.facebook.com/DynastyKL or www.facebook.com/RenaissanceKL.

For transportation convenience… you can just ‘GRAB’ or ‘UBER’ if you do not wish to drive as the vicinity of Jalan Ampang  adjoining Jalan Sultan Ismail where Renaissance KL is situated could be ‘jammed’ at times. You may also take  the monorail and stop at Bukit Nanas Station nearby.

Walking would be a good exercise after that heavy meal…. Right?

AN AWESOME FAMILY STAYCATION AT SUNWAY PUTRA HOTEL KL

#Hotel Review

Staycation: SUNWAY PUTRA HOTEL KL (2D1N)
Address – 100, Jalan Putra, Chow Kit, 50350 Kuala Lumpur
Thank you: Nik Saifatul Azkia (Assistant Manager Marcom) and Hotel Management team.
Website: http://putra.sunwayhotels.com/

Its been years since Kak Fas had written on Hotel Reviews. Last blogging done was during a stay of 3D2N  at ASEANIA RESORT, LANGKAWI about 2 years back.

However, for Hotel Reviews in Kuala Lumpur, being my city of residence, as fas as I could remember, it has been many years since my last write up of HILTON KL SENTRAL in WANITA Magazine, when I was one of the editorial journalist then.

Most of hotel reviews were done outstation  for example hotels in Pangkor Island, Pulau Tioman, Melaka, Johor Bahru and other states including Sabah and Sarawak.

Reviewing hotels in Kuala Lumpur would be the least as it’s a normal norm when a venue is at a hands reach you would take your own sweet time…as you know its always there… there was no hurry to rush.

Just like our  88 storey Petronas Twin Tower of 451.9 meters high, being a KLgites… Kak Fas  have not even been  to the skybridge which is the highest 2-story bridge in the world residing[at level 41 and 42.

All because… its near  yet so far haha....and so let it be…. When the time and need comes then Kak Fas would go. And that’s the reason too why hotel reviews in Kuala Lumpur was the least that caught my attention.

However, that does not mean that yours truly totally ignore reviewing hotels in the capital city of Malaysia… its just that time was not in favour….

But then, since am blogging… and getting an invite from a friendly Assistant Manager of Marcom, Nik Saifatul Azkia to review Sunway Putra Hotel… there was no reason not to accept.

Firstly, because Kak Fas wanted to experience and view the premise that was once ‘The Legend Hotel’ after it was renovated and taken over by the Sunway Group.

Now, Sunway Putra Hotel is part of the 4.5 acre self-sustained integrated development comprising  a mall as well as an office tower all of which went through a cost over RM1billion transformation which was previously known as The Mall or Putra Place.

During… The Legend… Kak Fas had experience staying as guest during an event held there but it was not a review… and one thing that reminded me of this place was the ‘Bread & Butter Pudding”… it was the best in town.

Now… after many years… Hotel Legend has indeed became a legend  but its spirit stays on though has undergone renovation and refurbishment of which now its named “SUNWAY PUTRA HOTEL’.

Going up the lift from the ground level …you would still have to press 9 in order to reach the lobby.

Though  the space is still huge as before with Coffee House situated at the same spot, The Atrium and Registration Counter has indeed improved tremendously with an ambience of relaxation and comforting.

While a guest register… their spouse or family can even wait at the Atrium Lounge area where they could relax for a cuppa from a comprehensive list of beverages and snacks available. Otherwise, just choose a sofa while waiting.

Upon registration which doesn’t take long, Kak Fas were given a Family Premiere Room on 15th Floor – Room no 1520.

After unlocking it, the door opens up to a spacious room comprising of one master bedroom and another small  single bedroom next to the living area. And on the table, a plate of fruit awaits its guest.

Without doubt, this type of room in a 5 star hotel is fully equipped with full amenities be it in the bedroom, bathroom and it's surrounding

The Master bedroom  connected by a sliding glass panel door comes with an adjoining bathroom opposite  that has a bathtub, separate shower cubicle and toilet plus its equipped with  a hair dryer.

The bedroom itself is equipped with a 42-inch flat screen television and a large wardrobe fitted with an iron and iron board, torch light and bathrobe as well as room slippers and off course a 'safe' to keep all your valuable items locked.

Meanwhile the smaller room is fitted with a single bed, a 42-inch flat screen television, wardrobe and its very own attached bathroom with 42-inch flat screen television, while at the living room  a writing desk is available for guest like yours truly to work on.

Off course as a blogger, Kak Fas need to be with  a computer all the time and couldn’t leave out without it…

So when a  blog needs to be updated off course a good connection through wifi is a necessity. Good connectivity is actually important and here at Sunway Putra Hotell every room is provided with  a wifi.

Though the connectivity on computer was good but somehow or rather connectivity of wifi over the phone was rather slow and sometimes could not be received at all so had to switch back to  own 3G..

But most importantly, connectivity on the computer was not disappointing so could easily access my blog post…and when tired rest on its comfy British style sofa settee while watching tv.

This type of arm chair settee do remind me of my home in London….  Soft, comfy yet beautiful – an ambience of serenity and cool.  Air conditioning system is fitted in every room.

However, an instruction  leaflet  should be placed there on how to operate and control the temperature as its digitally tuned. Kak Fas too was sort of confused what and where to press to lower the temperature. What more for guest who are IT illeterate;

My room which has a balcony overlooks the swimming pool below as well as the landscape of old and modern Kuala Lumpur overhead with the Twin Tower at sight. It was breathtaking and refreshing!

After reading out some quick information of the Hotel, Kak Fas came across a write up that stated a family with a baby  who made reservation for this type of room could also request for a baby cot at no extra cost but subject to availability.

Kak Fas do not have a baby  so has no need for a baby cot hahaa... but seeing the single room vacant made me call my daughter to join for the night. Well,...wouldnt want to leave a vacant room right... so why not accommodate it for someone else right?

And during the one night staycation, CC Kak Fas online blog was also accompanied by beattv.my – a portal managed by a couple who happened to be another daughter. Since its all in the family..so it was a good decision to review the hotel together.

And they were given another Family Premier Room on level 16. There was no adjoining Family Room available so we had to be separated by a floor. Didn’t request for a baby cot though as when check in was not aware of the facilities available nor was informed.

However, before relaxing ourselves in the room…  all of us had the opportunity to try the buffet lunch at the coffee house.

There is a sumptuous array  of gastronomy and multiple choices of authentic local dishes, signature Asian and Chinese cusines plus delicious Western fares to savour on.

Guest  may also chose to have an ala carte menu  if buffet is too much for their tiny tummy.

Kak Fas had dined here many times and everytime entering the coffee house, the thought of that deliious ‘bread pudding’ somehow or rather keeps emerging in my thoughts. But those were the days…

They still serve 'bread & butter pudding' but still non comparable to the legend as off course the chef has changed haha...

With opening hours begins from 6.30 am until 11 pm, family premier room guest  is allowed breakfast for four adults here.

And breakfast is Kak Fas’s favourite though am not a great eater. There were so many choices of delicious food to enjoy but still my breakfast would be just toast, fried egg or half boiled egg plus fruits and cornflakes.

I enjoyed breakfast more when bump into a familiar Indonesian actor cum singer, Randy Pangalela whom I had interviewed before and off course had to take a photo with him haha…

Wow! So Sunway Putra Hotel is now a favourite spot for artist to stay in. No doubt, the choice was convenient as this hotel is situated  within the city’s main commercial district and best of all nearby to most of popular tourist destination or entertainment venue such as the prestigious Istana Budaya.

In fact, the Indonesian diva, Krisdayanti stayed at Sunway Putra Hotel too during performing her 'Konsert Romansa' of three nights at the Istana Budaya nearby.

So choosing to stay at Sunway Putra was the right choice as she didn’t have to trave l far avoiding traffic jams etc.

Actually, Kak Fas saw Krisdayanti doing her threadmill exercise at the gym but didn”t recognized her well enough even though was reasurred many times by daughter. Ater all she do look so young for her age that I really did not recognize her until saw her at the konsert stage on another day after we checked out.

If only Azkia would have told us earlier about her stay… then surely I would agree with daughter that that person who smiled at her frequently was KRISDAYANTI indeed hahaa… well too late then!

So who knows if you choose to stay at this property you may bump and rub shoulders with one of the celebrities you adore whilst shopping too is just around the corner at the adjoining Sunway Putra Mall besides.

Just take the lift and you can start your shopping galore or even take your kids to ‘The Parenthood’ playland,  Malaysia's first London Street Family Park  located on the 2nd floor of Sunway Putra Mall.

The all new Sunway Putra Mall is positioned as an urban-chic lifestyle shopping mall with 8 levels of retail podiums and 5 Unique Precincts. Vanity Hall, Marketplace, Selera Street & Asian Avenue.

Had an opportunity to try the foods here during lunch and with lots of choices… it will make you to standstill for a while figuring out which food outlet to choose from.

But accustomed with  malay palatte Kak Fas off course chose to have white rice and fish curry which costs slightly expensive but since the taste was good… didn’t mind paying more.

Needless to say,  if you want to explore further,  but wouldn’t want to  get stuck in a traffic jammed then might as well hop on the train as STAR PWTC (Star Light Rail Trasit) station is just a walking distance away, to the right side of the hotel while a 5 minutes walk in front of the iconic Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC)  will take you to the Komuter Train Station to the  left side.

Besides, Sunway Putra Hotel provides a free shuttle service to the most populated shopping area of Bukit Bintang and the city’s renowned Petronas Twin Tower & Suria KLCC.

All you need to do is just check out the schedule situated by the Concierge Counter for time and reservation.

Apart from taxi’s, Uber or Grab is another choice of affordable transporation and this is most convenient if you have heavy luggage for a trip to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport which is a 45 minute drive away.

But if you prefer to just relax and enjoy the hotel staycation….maybe a dip in their 25 m long outdoor swimming pool  or sunbathe by the pool deck would be refreshing especially after rejuvenating at the 24 hours fitness centre  with state-of-the art selections of fitness equipment, situated on the same 11th floor of the hotel, fronting the pool, separated by glass panel.

Apart from a kid’s pool, guest can also try the Hot Tub Jacuzzi which is actually available for adult but somehow or rather kids are seen jumping in while parents watched or just sit under the covered platform where  food and beverages services are provided upon request.. The Swimming Pool operates from 8 am till 8 pm but at times it is closed for cleaning.

Again...It was around here overlooking the gym that Kak Fas saw Krisdayanti had her exercise done but disappointingly didn’t recognized her… otherwise would have ‘selfies’ hahaha..

After much fun… and before night falls its time for dinner.

Being a hotel guest reviewer, Kak Fas wanted to experience Room Service and was gladly approved  by Azkia…  so had a chance to order from the in-room diining menu available inside the room,.

When rang room service and after ordering, a question was asked “Are you paying cash or credit?”

Then when told am a blogger and a guest of Azkia   after checking….orders were approved.  And the food send direct to our room or even to another room upon request.

And when it arrived, the food was delicious as its freshly cooked. Thanks again Sunway Putra for the hospitality. I love the dessert... ordered for supper... well... I know its the wrong time to order and consuming sweet bites before bedtime but could not resist this creamy chocalate cake..hahaa....

Our second day was spend reviewing other types of room available accompanied by Azkia and her team.

Family Studio King Size Bed (above) and Family Room with a large wardrobe (below).

Family Room with One King Size Bed and One Single Bed (above) and Family Studio  Single Bed (below).

We were taken to view and photographed few room types - The Club Suite plus the Club Lounge, Family Room, Family Studio as well as the Deluxe Room. Other room types are Club Room, Family Premier  and Superior Room

Would be a milestone long story if Kak Fas were to elaborate on each room type so to simplify why not log on to the hotel’s website for more information…http://putra.sunwayhotels.com/ cause Kak Fas wouldn’t want to bore you right?

Family Studio Bathroom with full amenities
Family Studio Kitchenette.

Anyway, with 650 rooms available, the choice is yours.

For a family, paying an affordable rate of RM488 nett per night in a Family Premier Room for two adults and 2 kids with breakfast for four at the Coffee House, guest are also entitled  for 4 free TGV tickets (3 months validity), four 50% discounted Parenthood Playland tickets at Sunway Putra Mall and one complimentary Roll-Away Bed in the room.

So for the next coming school holidays.. it is my recommendation for families to choose the Sunway Putra Hotel for their short or long staycation. It is indeed convenient as the hotel is situated closed to most popular destination may it be site visits, shopping or even business calls.

In short, Sunway Putra Hotel has the ‘wow’ factor and choosing it is as the malay said ‘berbaloi” or ‘value for money’.

Infact, 2D1Night is rather short for a review as it would be more exciting to experience and feel the staycation more deeper if it was 3D2N….

Wouldn’t mind experiencing the Club Suite after this as guest on this level gets to  enjoy privileges of the Club Lounge situated on the 34th floor.  Clun Suite guest are offered:

Personalised Check-In and Check-Out with an extended late check-out up to 4pm.
Daily breakfast from 7am-10:30am at the Club Lounge
All day snacks with coffee, tea & juices from 7am-11pm daily
Evening cocktails & hors d'oeuvers from 6-8pm at the Club Lounge
One hour usage of the Executive Lounge Board Room per stay
Free usage of Computer workstation at the Club Lounge
Complimentary local telephone calls (excluding mobile & toll free numbers)
Complimentary pressing and laundry (3 pieces of clothing/daily - non accumulative.
Am actually out of words to express the wonderful short stay at this 35 storey  floor hotel as apart from the spacious and lovely room with six ‘legendary’ room upgraded from its previous owner, guest can opt to hold events or even wedding at their grand ballroom as well as 17 single breakout function rooms available which can be combined to accommodate higher volumes of people for bigger events.

If feeling ‘ Look East” just step up the wide staircase at the lobby to the  Gen Japanese Restaurant for lunch or dinner. You can either enjoy your Japanese spread in a room  or just at a table overlooking the old and new landscape of Kuala Lumpur below through the glass window panel. Children below 12 years get to eat for free.

So look no further, Sunway Putra Hotel is indeed a perfect family getaway in the city.

A venue that is most popular credited amongst local dramas and feature films alike.
Thank you again Sunway Putra Hotel for this wonderful first time experience in a  good rated 5 star Kuala Lumpur hotel after many years. No wonder it received a faboulous 8,7 score rating amongst reviewers at Booking.com website.

With the friendly and sweet Nur Azkia  before bidding goodbye for a short but wonderful stay in this hotel situated nearest to all places of interest and prominent tourist destinations.

\

Thanks for this token of gifts.... much appreciated...hope to see all the friendly staff and management team of Sunway Putra Hotel again though miss to get to meet the new GM. As the Malay saying goes: "Terima kasih daun keladi.....moga ada lain kali ya...."

Hope to see all again soonest ya!!!

GATHER FOR REUNION DINNER @ SUNWAY PUTRA HOTEL

Chinese New Year is just around the corner…. So its all busy here, busy there especially for the Chinese community who will be ushering the new Lunar Year of the Fiery Rooster.
And when you talk about Chinese New Year, the best night to celebrate would off course be the ‘Makan Besar” as we Malaysian say it or in plain English the ‘reunion dinner’ where all families will gather around getting ready to toss the must menu – Yee Sang.

On ths particular day, Kuala Lumpur city which is usually flooded by all sorts of transportation  causing traffic jams will see  few cars on the road. They say you can have the road by yourself in KL on Chinese New Year haha…. It’s like a Garuda has attacked KL and everybody is under shed….haha…

Hello Kak Fas.. don’t sound so dramatic ok…

Anyway, for those cityborn or have no plan to ‘balik kampung’ there are lots of hotels in KL catering for a reunion dinner and one of it is the Sunway Putra Hotel KL.

Recently, Kak Fas was invited to view the hotel’s offerings during the festive month and what makes the launching unique are two historical activities unveiled. One was the gigantic Yee Sang roundtable and the other was the longest 14 feet tall red paper Spring Couplets created  with two vertical calligraphy sentences drawn symbolizing luck, more wealth and health for the hotel and their guest.

That was really eye catching.

And with about 100 guests and members of the media  as well as bloggers, all  had the experience of tossing the gigantic yee sang accompanied by 8 auspicious lions running around them. And off course that triggered everyone to take their handphones up for wefies and selfies.

Now back to the Reunion Dinner….

Sunway Putra Hotel’s “2017 Chinese New Year Eve Reunion Dinner” buffet will be available on 27  January 2017 from 6.00pm to 10.30pm at the Coffee House on Level 9. The buffet is priced at only RM118 nett per person for adults and RM 59 nett per child between six and 12 years old. Children below six years old eat for free.

For guest preferring to host their own private Properity Dinner can opt for the nine course dinner incuding Yee Sang set,  priced at only RM 1988 nett for a table of ten. A minimum booking of 20 people is advised for the private dinner packages and the offer is available from 15 January till 11 February 2017.

And if you wish for the ‘Look East’ menu then Japanese food lovers should try the Gen Japanese Restaurant that will also be serving a special Chinese New Year Buffet for only RM98 nett per per son and RM49 nett per child between six and 12 years old. This promotion is available on 27 and 28 January 2017 at the Gen Restaurant from 6.00 pm to 10.30 pm.

Awesome don’t you think?

But if you just want to enjoy eating leisurely then might as well head on to their coffee house at level 9 where all the food promises to be decadent and opulent. The hotel’s skillful culinary team led by Chef Cheong Chee Seng, Head Chinese Chef, has pulled all stops to ensure guests are treated to an international feast not just for the palate but also for the eyes.

There are 10 headlining counters to savour and choose, from appertizers and salad to the Yee Sang Counter, Soup Counter, Hot Spot, Pasta, Noodles Pizza of the Day or even Dim Sum, Carving Station and Dessert plus Ice Cream fridge off course.

A must-try on the hot dishes shelf would be the steamed fish with Superior Soya Sauce. It was so delicious that Kak Fas had to go for a second servings haha…and off course the irresistible Wok Fried Prawn with Spicy Special Sauce .

Am not really adventurous on food as my blogger friend Misz Ella described me so my only takings for that day are simple dishes like black pepper beaf,  crab soup with rolls & butter the like.

Actually, most of the dishes prepared looks delicious and mouth watering but sad to say kak Fas do not  have a big stomach to taste each and every buffet feast. After all, Sunway Putra Hotel was awarded with 2016 Best Food and Beverage Hotel by CTRIP… so that is one proof to be rest assured off.

The whole event and food review that day was hosted by Augustine M. Silva, Senior General Manager, Sunway Putra Hotel, accompanied by Sunway Hotels & Resorts’ Cluster Director of Operations, Kelly Leong.

In his short welcome note, Augustine said:

“What better way to celebrate our first festival this year, other than to offer mouth-watering traditional and contemporary dishes for our guests this Chinese New Year.  We hope 2016 will be a great year for everyone, filled with an abundant health, wealth and happiness. As Sunway Putra Hotel opened its doors fully recently after having gone through a refurbishment exercise that lasted almost two years, it’s about time we introduce you to the changes we have brought to our facilities and services.”

Pix: Miera Nadhirah.
Meanwhile, not forgetting walk in guest who just want a taste of dry Yee Sang, can purchase it at the Atrium Lounge for RM58 nett per order while the Salmon Yee Sang is priced at RM78 nett per order. Both types of Yee Sang is ideal for a family of four to five people per box.

As reservations is recommended for the Reunion Dinner and the Yee Sang purchases, kindly call the Food and Beverage (F&B) Reservations Counter, Sunway Putra Hotel or enquiry to Nurulhuda Azmi, Director of Sales & Catering at +603 4040 9888 or email spkl.dine@sunwayputrahotel.com

#Cuti-cuti Malaysia #dekatjer tau....

In conjunction with Christmas and as part of its annual CSR programme, Grand Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur once again welcome underprivileged children at a special Christmas Charity Event recently.

Though it has been customary for such charitable events held at the hotel every year, it is the first time yours truly are able to join this year.

All of that happened on God's will and if it hadn't been for the reconnection with Mr. Terry J. the friendly Marketing Communicatios Manager, whom had been out of contact for the pass few years since the Cherating Trip but met him again during a Deepavali event organized by Astro, Kak Fas would not have joined the auspicious occasion.

About 55 kids age between 3 to 12 years old from two homes: Rumah Kebajikan Anak Yatim Mary & Rumah Chasis Christian Kids were treated to a wonderful Christmas Party.

Apart from being served sumptuous array of  foods from  oriental dishes of  fried rice, fried mee to a bit of western menu of chips, chicken and the like with christmas cakes and ice cream, the kids were entertained by the hotel associates, a magic show, clown performances accompanied with fun games, all done for charity with a good heart.

"The hotel organizes this kind of event for all festive, it can be with old folks home, single monthers and orphanage homes. We do take the food to the old folks home and treat them there as all of them cannot leave the home." said Terry when met.

He added, the hotel also donate mattress, pillows and blankets to the needy homes as part of their CST activities year round.

During the event, both caretakers of the homes when met hope public or the government would assist them to continue doing good deeds and help the homes to survive whereby they needed at least RM30,000 a month for cost of management.

The event which took place at the Seasons 2 function room was an afternoon full of joy and laughter with games and fun activities. It was a cheerful sight seeing the children do the chicken dance.

And when Santa Claus came... all were excited and eagerly waited to be present with gifts of bag pack, balloons and many more.

ENJOYING a sit on the comfy bed of the Family Suite of the Sunway Pyramid Hotel  with blogger mates.

SUNWAY PYRAMID HOTEL REOPENS TO A BRAND NEW STAY

For those who have been a loyal 'sleeper' at Sunway Pyramid Hotel which was formally known as Sunway Pyramid Hotel East, you are in to 'waking up to a brand new stay'  as the refreshed 4.5 star Hotel reopens it doors beginning last 3rd of November 2016.

Kak Fas was proud to be one of the earliest invited media and guest to preview the RM125 million renovated hotel before it's 564 rooms and suites be fully operational by end of January 2017.

Meaning, the hotel will progressively open its guestrooms and suites since it closed on April Fool's Day which is on 1st of April 2016.

No fooling... it's  true the Hotel shut down on that particular day. And now after 7 month, it is back to welcome guest, true to its themed "Waking Up To A Brand New Stay' as is written on each cup cakes.

During the launch all invitees were gathered at the main lobby with a welcoming note by Encik  Farizal Jaafar (below), the Group Director of Brand Marketing, before a short speech was given by Albert Cheong, CEO and Group General Manager of Sunway Hotels & Resorts.

On the opening, Mr. Albert Cheong (below) said:

“The re-opening of Sunway Pyramid Hotel brings a new level of energy and excitement; adding to the spectacular facilities in Sunway City Kuala Lumpur. With the full room inventory available by end of January 2017, the cluster of three (3) hotels in Sunway City including the new Sunway Pyramid Hotel, will offer guests a choice of 1,433 guestrooms, suites and villas within a single integrated destination; thereby affording guests with every conceivable choice and budget”.

Albert also added “First opened in July 2004 as Pyramid Tower Hotel, the 10-storey Sunway Pyramid Hotel’s major renovation aligns to Sunway’s market strategy in meeting the increasing demand for higher quality accommodations as business and leisure travel to the 800-acre integrated destination of Sunway City continues to grow and attract guests from Malaysia, near-home markets like Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and from around the region, like the Middle East, China and India”.

The General Manager of Sunway Design Sdn. Bhd., Mr. Nelson Yong ceremoniously presented a mock guestroom key of Sunway Pyramid Hotel to , Mr. Albert Cheong, marking the project hand-over to the hotel’s management team during the preview.
After the speech, Kak Fas and all guest were like excited to move towards the lift for the next agenda which is reviewing four rooms that are prepared namely the Family Room; Deluxe Executive Room; Deluxe Park View Room and the Deluxe Room.

But all were like 'terkejut' when Encik Farizal then announced that breakfast is served at their newly  'urban picnic' breakfast pop-up area located on the right hand side of the main lobby.

Oh, breakfast first... that's awesome... at least we can gather energy to move around the 10th floor later for the preview session of that four rooms prepared although yours truly feels the setting was rather tempting to ignore at first sight.

Here, guest  experience  a multi-sensory breakfast voyage that replicates the upcoming offerings available at Kaffeinate, the Hotel’s food and beverage kiosk, that  serve freshly brewed gourmet coffees, specialty teas, cold-pressed juices and a range of light snacks and refreshments prepared by the hotel’s team of chefs daily.

However, Kaffeinate is scheduled to open in December 2016. The preview event’s breakfast pop-up session featured a demonstration by Coffex Coffee Roasters (M) on the latest in coffee art and brewing techniques, new recipes for cold pressed juices by Kuvings (M) and a wide spread of local and continental breakfast specialties by the Hotel’s chefs.

Kak Fas was always attracted to the design of the cream on top of a cup of coffee so

without further ado, made a way towards the demonstration area.

And looking at how it was done... wow... it was like so easy... will try that at home haha...
Though the setting was just a pop up one but it was beautifully decorated maximizing each space with assortment of dishes from bread to nasi lemak (which was delicous indeed, I think that is the best and at par with the famous nasi lemak at Istana Budaya huhu) and a widespread of other local and continental breakfast specialities.

Happily filling the stomach with all the delicious food, suddenly the sound of music turned all heads back towads the lobby to a flash mob dance. All dancers were clad in hotel uniforms of various sectors of employment but off course they are not the staff but are the award winning dance group named the  Katoon Network Dance Crew.

With that fun dance, the time came for all guest especially media and bloggers to view the four rooms that has been prepared.

On the 10th floor, Kak Fas's group were ushered to the FAMILY ROOM for our first viewing experience.

This spacious room measuring between 53 square-meters to 60 square metres, is the hotel's largest rooms offering added extras like two bathrooms, a mini refrigerator, a microwave and bedding options for up to six persons.

Look at the first picture above and you would instantly know what Kak Fas meant ya. Let the pix tells the story.

There are around 21 similar rooms and suites provided to accommodate an increase in family and leisure travellers to Sunway City.

Designed by Sunway Design Sdn Bhd, each guestroom and suite are fitted with technology improvement such as complimentry wifi and wired broadband internet which is the first sought for whenever seeking for accommodation.

Being a writer, that is Kak Fas first priority. And here, in this newly renovated Family Suites all beds are within the reach of an USB charger outlets. That was awesome as you know with that USB charger outlet, Kak Fas can anytime work on a computer on bed rather than working on the dressing table where most of all the plugs are.

Going out to the corridors is another breathtaking as the walkways are wide and vibrant. It is like rounded and accessible to the Deluxe Executive Room, Deluxe Park View Room and the Deluxe Room.

The Deluxe Executive Room, ranging in size between 30 to 32 square meters, is designed for guests who are seeking additional space.

However, if you seeking for a much cosy room for two then its wise to choose the Deluxe Park View or just the Deluxe Room. The only difference is the Park View Room offers spectacular views of Sunway Lagoon theme park while the Deluxe Room is much more confined and the most popular lead-in room category.

THE Deluxe Park View Room overlooking Sunway Lagoon Theme Park.

THE Deluze Bathroom.
ONE for the camera in the Deluxe Room

Its introductory prices  that are valid until 30 November 2016 range from RM380 ++ per room per night up to RM1,500 and above depending on the type of rooms. And all room reservation are inclusive of breakfast for two adults, complimentary WI-FI and subjected to 10% of Service Charge and prevailing GST.

So why not take this offer and stay at Sunway Pyramid Hotel this School Holiday... as staying here your children  can enjoy the theme Park nearby or for ladies go shopping at  Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall, you wouldn;t be stress of getting caught in a traffic jam as everything is at reach.

While fathers  who may not want to follow their wife window shopping or whatever, can rest and sleep in the comfy bed of the rooms or just watch the 42" LED Smart TV with satellte news, sports and movie channels provided.

So if this is your plan then make immediate booking before the promotion date ends at www.sunwayhotels.com or via telephone at +603 7492 8000. And for further enquiries you can email to srhs.reservations@sunwayhotels.com.

JOHOR FIESTA @GRAND SEASONS KL

'Lets roam out for lunch..." said a worker netizens in Kuala Lumpur.

"What's cooking? No time... no worries lets go out and have a feast to celebrate your special day," said a Johorian husband to his wife and family after a hard day's work, stress with traffic jams and coming back home just after 8 pm.

But the question is where to eat?

Well hear me all... what's cooking in the middle of the heart of Kuala Lumpur especially Johorians who crave for that special Johor dishes would be recommended to Grand Seasons Hotel  where the 'Johor Fiesta' is happening right now.

Yes, for the whole month of November (1-30 November 2016), step into the hotel's Seasons Coffee House, located at the busy road of Jalan Pahang, to feel, touch and smell the flavours of more than 100 dishes of the state of Johor, deemed as "the Southern Gateway to Malaysia".

Yours truly aka Kak Fas was invited by the cheerful Marketing Communications Manager, Mr Terry J, to experience the awesome authentic Johorian cuisine recently and with delight Kak Fas made an attempt to experience the buffet lunch set beautifully in the chic coffee house at the ground floor.

What's more it has been almost few years that Kak Fas ' dah putus hubungan' dengan Terry J (below, leftuntil met again during the Deepavali Festive Launch by Astro last month. We last met I recalled was when we gathered at the Hotel for our trip to Cherating few years back. But mind you... Terry still looks fresh, young, vibrant and most importantly jovial.

Now... lets move on to the Johor Fiesta.... What's the menu?

"We have prepared around 100 dishes with 7 sets of menus though not forgetting the normal Eastern and Western cuisine  for our international guests," said Senior Sous Chef, Encik Fauzi Mokhtar  (above) when met.

Yes... you name it... every kind of Johorian dishes  are available, may it be your favourite mum's menu to even your own taste buds.

Kak Fas am not a Johorian but a Perakian, but looking at the array of dishes prepared, nothing is much more tempting then to try first and foremost the Laksa Johor.

Dah lama tak makan Laksa Johor sebenarnya.... so apa lagi that was my first choice...after all its Johor FIesta right?

But be carefull  to mix the condiments well.... dont be like Kak Fas... took a spoonfull of lobak asin,,, then when informed by one of the chef thats its salty...had to spook out a little bit off... and am glad was reminded over as when tasted.... it was a perfect taste... otherwise it would off course be more salty.

After that first dish... then Kak Fas chose to continue with the Mee Bandung....so from Johor to Bandung hihi... not Bandung in Indonesia mind you....they won't have Mee Bandung in Bandung but this Mee Bandung is famous in the little town of Muar, Johor. So its better known as Mee Bandung Muar actually.

Tasting a little bit of everything making room for more in the tummy, Kak Fas turn to try the 'Sup Kambing Berempah' that looks so delicious. And whats more when its eaten with buns and butter... my favourite... bila 'cicah' dalam sup emmm... teramat sedap apatah lagi masih panas 'meletup'.

With that yours truly was almost half fulled but god... there are much more to savour... how could this small tummy feeds all that delicious assortments of food?

Got an idea... must try the best ones recommended by its Chef so took a plate and filled it up with a little bit of something though not all off course... and here is what Kak Fas chose to taste - White rice with Assam Pedas Ikan, Mussel with Sauce, Ayam Masak Opor, Daging Rendang with vegetables and sambal belacan with sambal tempoyak (from durian) which was really umppph... no words to describe hihi...

With that,  Kak Fas could only finish up with a few of my favourite dessert such as jelly, sago gula melaka, seri muka, bread and butter pudding as well as kuih limas (the ones wrapped with banana leaf (below) plus a cup of coffee to swallow it all down.

Alas! Forget a while about how many calories and fat  is consumed... will think of how to reduce it later hihi....

Spending like more than two hours at the Johor Fiesta was really tummy fulled.

Bila dah kenyang apa lagi mata mula lah mengantuk kan? Tersangat lah kenyang.....but for food review sake at least I think have done a good deed  by informing readers and food lovers of this Johor Fiesta.

In short here are some of the medley of other delectable dishes that may be your favourite accordingly to each sections:

Appertizers:  Kerabu Pucuk Paku, Ikan Bilis Goreng Petai, Rojak Tauhu, Kerbu Mangga,Kerabu Pucuk Ubi,  Telor Pindang, Pajeri Terung, Puyuh Goreng Berempah, Lemang Ayam, Mini Sotong Bakar, Telur Masin, Ikan Masin Johor, Kerabu Pucuk Paku, Rojak Asma, Kerabu Ikan, Kerabu Kerang, Pasembor Johor, Pecal Kuah Kacang dan Acar Rampai.

#GO ASEAN TURNS 1

Marking its first anniversary on 2 June recently, the award-winning first ASEAN-centric multi-platform travel channel, GOASEAN is excited to unveil its two new original series to further highlight the beauty and mystery of SoutheastAsia’s exotic destinations to globetrotters.

GOASEAN began as the brainchild of Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Sri Mohd. Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak and was officially launched last year in June 2015, to commemorate the Malaysian tenure as ASEAN Chairman, following his emphasis towards a people-centric ASEAN. Since its first inception to Malaysia, the multi-platform digital and broadcast travel channel continuously produces its own original travel programmes, such as Go Travel, Go Fast or Go Home, The Halal Foodie and The Eco Traveller.

Within less than a year of operation, GOASEAN has garnered local and international accolades, having won 12 awards within the past 12 months. The latest addition to its list of awards is for its original travel show, The Eco Traveller, which recently just claimed Silver and Bronze awards at the prestigious 37th Annual Telly Awards 2016. The jubilance continues as GOASEAN spreads the excitement and fun with the public through rewarding prizes worth up to RM 150,000 for online and on-ground activities, in collaboration with GOASEAN’s partners throughout the month of June.

Must-see new series, both The Eco Traveller and The Halal Foodie are slated to be aired on GOASEAN within June 2016.

The Eco Traveller captures the journey of Rovilson Fernandez, where he goes to the greener side of travel across Southeast Asia. The show as a whole encompasses a bigger calling to inspire viewers to take on eco-travelling; tackling environmental issues relating to rampant growth of tourism.

“Travel is a beautiful thing, whether you are venturing into the great unknown or eco-friendly cities, but sustainable travel gives you a sense of shared ownership of this planet we live in. It goes beyond opting to reuse towels and bed linen at a hotel,” said Rovilson. As World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Ambassador, Rovilson aims to make the environmental issues easily relatable to his viewers, translating the eco-adventures as equally fun, exciting and also, practical. While the series discovers the hidden eco-spots in Philippines, it also includes episodes of sustainable activities with the eco-conscious locals from planting corals, beach cleaning, to organic farming and visiting caves and carvings without leaving carbon footprints. “You will learn how to respect the community and the culture of these ASEAN countries when you play an active part with them in preserving and sustaining the nature,” added Rovilson.

Offering a different side of the SoutheastAsia’s food scene, The Halal Foodie travels across the ASEAN region in search of the best halal eats - both local and fusion style. “Being a Muslim and also a huge fan of food, it can be tricky and challenging for me to find proper halal food whenever I travel around ASEAN countries, so that is where my adventure starts.”

“In The Halal Foodie, I am on a one-man mission to try what-and-where the unique and mouth-watering halal delicacies are in the region,” said Papi Zak. A food guide that not only entices the viewers with lip-smacking halal and unique local dishes, Papi Zak also travels in between his gastronomic mission, for some spiritual attractions both on and off the beaten path. Visiting a local mosque in Bangkok, Thailand, where Thai culture meets Islam and trying halal tribal food at Monsupiad tribal village in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, are only a tiny scoop to the foodie adventures Papi encounters in the show.

On top of both original series, Food Maps shares top must-try dishes and where to get them through short videos that can also be viewed on the GOASEAN app, LetsGoNow. Aiming to be the premier ASEAN food directory, Food Maps currently covers Singapore, Jakarta, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City and Phnom Penh.

GOASEAN programmes are now available through a wide range of platforms including ASTRO Channel 737, iflix, in-flight entertainment on several major airlines and via GOASEAN LetsGoNow mobile application for Apple and Android smartphone users. The mobile app which can be downloaded for free, offers access to users’ portable devices from anywhere in the world.

Teruskan usaha membuat kami senyum TERSENYUM SIHAT!

BERBUKA PUASA @CONCORDE SHAH ALAM

Paling Kak Fas suka  sup 'gear box'...emmm sedap sangat... teringat sampai sekarang hihi....

KAK Fas bersama teman2 blogger.

CAWAN istemewa Hotel Majestic. Pix Misz_Ella

BUFET RAMADAN RENAISSANE KL SEDIAKAN DURIAN

Kenapa Kak Fas kata begitu?

Set in the stunning Grand Ballroom that could accommodate up to 2,600 guests, Sime Darby Convention Centre (SDCC)  precede others In being the first to showcased its upcoming Ramadan offerings, themed ‘A Taste of Malaysia’, way beyond the fasting month that will begin early June.

True to its theme, Kak Fas  was amazed at the array of Ramadan buffet menu created by SDCC’s Executive Chef, Azmi Md Sidek that features a wide array of mouthwatering Malaysian favourites that one could expect during the fasting month season.

It was like ‘wow, which dish should I try first?” That was the first impression yours truly felt while looking around every corner of food stalls set decoratively within the grand ballroom and outside the hallway.

Now, where do I go first, would surely be the question in your mind. But, off course during fasting month the first stall that you would choose to go would be the drink counter. And that was indeed my first stop.

And here, you will definitely be spoilt for choice as there are so many flavoured drinks to choose from. For quenching your thirst in a hot weather like Malaysia, there are Soya Bean, Bandung, Barley Lime, Sugar cane, Cincau or even cold Cappucino whilst for warming your tummy you may go for The Tarik and Nescafe Tarik.  For children they may enjoy Special Fruit smoothies among others.

Best of all, for Muslim, they can start to break fast with the water from Mecca, “Air Zam Zam’ and dates to go along before prayers and continuing dinner thereafter.

With a small tummy and loads of dishes to choose from you would just want to try a bit of everything. That is if your stomach could take it. Imagine from twenty live action cooking stalls where dishes are either cooked ala minute or prepared fresh such as Sup Berempah, Sizzling Hot Plate, Penang Fried Kway Teow or the Gulai Kawah section naming a few, you would be full in a minute.

Not to mention other Malaysian and International Dishes that many are fond of – Grilled Mini SIrlion Steak, Assorted Sushi and Sashimi or Italiano Pizza.

And buffet connoisseiurs would definetly make a beeline for the Roasted Crispy Peking Duct, Roasted Whole Lamb as well as seven types of Ikan Bakar available to pick from.
In line with the festive month, SDCC also served Lemang, Rendang Ayam, Ketupat and the like, all of which are menus you would always find at a Hari Raya celebration. Though not forgetting other Malaysian taste buds of menu’s like Tandoori Chicken &  Naan.

Had enough? Off course not, right?.

No meal is complete without a sweet ending and  the dessert selection prepared is another ‘headache’ you may encounter.

For the writer, the dessert area is the second choice next to drink, especially during Ramadan.  After  a cold drink down and a piece  of dates, I would start off with  few mixture of local delights  such as a selection of malay kuih or porridge like bubur kacang, bubur pulut hitam etc.

These dishes are well prepared here and if that’s not your choice you may opt for Bread & Butter Pudding, Durian Cheesecake, Apple Crumble, Pulut Panggang, Wajik, Crepe with Durian or even Tapai Pulut with ice cream, Yummy!

Children would surely love the Fried Ice Cream prepared in minutes or go for the Coconut Jelly beside it.

Well, if you are impressed with the selection prepared by SDCC  for this Ramadan then why not book early as you could save a lot with the early bird promotions.

Bookings made in the month of March, will be priced at RM79 a  pax while in April and May would be RM89 per  person  compared to the actual price of RM146.30 nett per person when the Ramadan Buffet starts off beginning 8th June until 5th July from 6.30pm to 10.30 pm.

Children  (aged 6 to 12 years) and senior citizens (aged 60 and above) can  enjoy a 50% discount while children below 6 years can enjoy their food for free. And if you reserve for a pax of 10, you are entitled to one free buffet dining.

Tetapi bila tawar menawar harga beca pastikan ia betul sebab kadang-kadang mengelirukan.

Pengalaman Kak Fas terpaksa undur buntut dahulu bla tersalah cara,,,,hahah

Memang sempit dan gelap... nasib ada telefon bimbit dalam poket bolehla buka lampur dan cari jalan, Nampak je laluan keluar pertama Kak Fas pun apa lagi keluar laa...tak larat dah nak membongkok lama haha...

Nak tahu lanjut ceritanya kenalah layari laman web Cu Chi Tunnel tak gitu?

Untuk meraikan pembukaan laluan terbaharu, Vietjet memberikan 50,000 tiket promosi pada hanya RM0.00 melalui kempen “Its time to Vietjet! Amazing flights to Ho Chi Minh City”.

ASEANIA RESORT LANGKAWI OFFER NATURAL RETREAT

Will this target be achieved?

Sprawling across 7.519 acres of lush  tropical greenery and undulating hills thrown into the  backdrop,  Aseania Resort & Spa Langkawi  still stood elegantly along the  strategic T junction of Jalan Pantai Tengah, Kedawang, Langkawi, though its vicinity around Pantai Cenang developed rapidly with new and one star hotels emerging one after the other. Not to mention motels or even low cost ‘A’ huts along the beaches nearby post a competitive choice for tourist.

As legendary as the island of Langkawi’s mythical  tales offer, this four star resort  house 238 guest rooms spread over  5 blocks of 4 storey buildings marked by letters A to E,  has also a story of its own charm.

It is not only sophisticated in its architectural design but boast  its own mini water park that has been recorded by The Malaysia Book of Record s, as having the longest swimming pool of 154.4 meter long, complemented by mersmerising array of other facilities such as wave pool, mushroom pool, waterfall, Jacuzzi, sundeck, lazy river plus adult and children slides.

My arrival for a four days 3 nights stay at this wholly owned bumiputera resort was not a first time experience but the second after a lapse of six month. Within that short period of absence, the resort does look slightly ‘new’ with its first stage upgrading on furnitures, tiles and room facilities done.

“At this moment we have completed refurbishment on 150 rooms and as you may notice, our lobby has also been upgraded with tiles changed, giving guest the refreshing ambience of a resort,”said  Encik Shamsol Hj Mustafa.

According to him, by end of the year, the resort will launch its Marakesh  musictheque  with an interior design of Moroccon contemporary style filled  with music machines and live band as well as karaoke room. This additional development to the resort will surely add more spice and fill the vacuum for night entertainment life within.

Staying at Aseania Resort & Spa, be it for pleasure or business, this truly serene atmosphere that  beholds the entire surroundings with lit up neon lights of red blue and green on all of its 40 fountains scattered around its surrounding gives a warmth and cosy feeling especially with the night breeze swipping softly giving a cool adorable sense of relaxation.

Like most four star island resort, growing to reach the five star level,  all air conditioned  rooms are equipped with modern furnishing and basic amenities that provides guest with the  comfort of  a home. Best of all, I love  its large two Queen size bed that sleeping on it you wouldn’t worry of space but  be careful not to roll over too much as its rather high from the ground. Else this spacious  Deluxe Room  is perfect for a family or friends of four.

For larger families you may choose any  of the one bedroom family suite/apartment  or two bedroom suites/apartment  inclusive of a living and kitchen area. Other types of room includes the Superior, that comes in two types of bed configuration,  either one Queen size bed or two  single bed. Its big enough even for an extra bed to accommodate 3 adults.

Nowadays, most  hotel reservations comes along with breakfast, and Aseania Resort & Spa is non exceptional. Its signature restaurant ‘Mahsuri Kitchen’ bearing the name of the legendary pretty maiden of the Island that had curse Langkawi  for seven generation of bad luck,  allows  for both under roof and open air dining.

In tandem with being a family-oriented resort, ‘Mahsuri Kitchen’ that overlooks a cascading pool surrounded by lush and well manicured landscape offers a splendid front seat view of the dreamy water feature.

Sounds of the running water fall gives a perfect decibel to elevate your appetite while you indulge in a variety of Malaysian signature dishes   and classic European flavours under the helm  of its Executive Chef Bard.

And for those with a waistline to watch may just opt for a variety of fruits, yogurt, sandwiches or even a piece or two of pancakes or waffle to enjoy a guilt free breakfast.

‘Beef Rendang Tok’, ‘Salted Fish Curry with Pineapple’, ‘Fried Chicken with Honey & Ginger’, ‘Stir Fried Prawn Chinese Style  and ‘Fried Mixed Vegetables’ were  few of chef’s recommended dish which Chef Bard was kind enough to have it specially cooked to taste and indeed it was delicious  but off course nothing beats the ‘Beef Rendang Tok’ which was my favourite. More so it’s the  local  signature  dish of my home state, Perak.

For a more  luxurious setting, dine under the stars while savouring seafood barbecue of multiple choice every Saturday night and  be entertained to music and cultural dance performance held on Teratak Mahsuri stage at the swimming pool terrace.

During the day, while lazing beside the pool under the sun, you may quench your thirst or taking light snacks from the Marakesh Bistro and Pool Bar. But if that’s not what you enjoyed and want to feel the soft hands of  traditional female masseurs, just head over to Sari Dewi Spa nearby.

Nestled in its natural tropical setting, Sari Dewi Spa  perfectly blends  and balances the natural surroundings with its ambience  and therapeutic treatments using herbal  products of high quality.

You will be warmly welcome by the sweet and friendly Ms Risnawati Ailing who heads the spa with eight professional staff that are in hand to pamper you with 28 types of spa treatment to choose from.

Lose yourself in the indulgent utopia of rejuvenating bliss at the spa and  choose your kind of treatment may it be for ‘Sari foot spa’  of only RM90 to full ‘Sari Malay Traditional’ massage for only RM180 which  is recommended by Ailing as the most enjoyable treatment that is passed on from the ancient courts of the Malay Sultanates from generation to generation.  The technique focus on the muscles, and pressure applied to  various points  to rejuvenate the body.

But, if you are busy during day time, not to worry, you may  make an appointment  at night as the spa opens from 11 till 10 pm and best of all you may bring along your kids below 12 years to share the experience of any of five treatment available for them  namely Mini Sari Aroma, Foot Reflexology, Facial, Nail Colouring and Sari Milk Body Polish. Prices for kids are reasonable, between RM20 to RM70.

With 4 units of couple spa suites available, honeymooners should opt for any of its  six spa package treatment  ranging from between RM360 to RM740 so that both hubby and wife could experience the scent of natural refreshing feeling from head to toe.

On that note too, Aseania Resort & Spa  provides special package for newly weds with  two choices either the ‘Romantic Sunset Cruise’  worth RM1,488 or  a “Romantic Getaway’ for RM1,098. With 3 days 2 nights accommodation, honeymooners  are given a choice of either sunset cruise or island hopping plus other attractive offers by the resort with rooms decorated beautifully for them.

For other guest, another special promotion that the resort handles are packages of 3D 2N ‘Mai Langkawi’ for RM398 per person  and also  ‘Island Discovery Package’ from RM448 per person or choose the ‘Extravangza Getaway’ from RM698 per room. Both  earlier packages are valid until 31 March 2017 while the latter validity date ends 31 March 2016.
So why wait? The month of December beckons for a fresh outlook on travel planning for your year end holiday. I believe many of you at this moment are  browsing high and low for holiday getaway whether in Malaysia  or overseas.

Well, Langkawi is still ‘over seas’ as you will have to fly over the sea or taking the ferry which takes you to the sea, yet saving a lot of money compared to going abroad.
Anyway jokes aside,  but the true fact is  if you are focusing on fun in order to ensure your children gets a memorable childhood holiday  iwhile you as parents can also have  peace of mind, then why not head over to Aseania Resort & Spa.

Rated 30 out of 100 hotels listed by Trip Advisor, it should be an opulent escape for those searching for serenity in the midst of a hectic lifestyle yet its location is an easy  access to just about everything Langkawi has to offer along the strip of Pantai Cenang that looks slightly like Bali’s shopping haven.

Macam mana?
